Born in Cianjur, West Java, Agus Wijaya is an Indonesian of Chinese background living and working in Sydney. His practice engages the structures through which the personal and cultural become legible.

Drawing on familial references alongside political and belief formations, he approaches forms of constraint, extraction and power as lived conditions: negotiated and renarrated within their own terms.

Working across digital abstraction, experimental sculpture and installation, Wijaya employs subtle irreverence to test strategies of identification and dis-identification. His work attends to moments where familiar frameworks show strain, registering glitches between ways of knowing and seeing.
